Middle School Students explore Chicago-area Catholic High School options on Monday.
Dear SBPS Parents and Guardians,
We are looking forward to this weekend’s, Oktoberfest and we hope that you are ready to celebrate with the parish and school community this weekend. This beloved tradition also relies on many volunteers to ensure a safe, welcoming, and successful event for all. If you are able, please consider volunteering. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow parents, support our school, and strengthen the sense of community that makes St. Benedict Prep so special. One special note - last year, we did have a lice outbreak after OktoberFest. This past week, we had a number of cases reported so we encourage families to take proactive steps this weekend to guard against the spread of lice: tying back long hair, using products to keep lice away, check for nits, etc.
We are also preparing to launch Learning Portrait for parents TOMORROW for grades 1-8. Please look out for an email about how to log into the portal. We are currently training our middle school students and helping them understand how to use this important new tool. Learning Portrait will provide parents and students with a more meaningful view of growth and achievement by offering real-time information on standards, progress, and learning. This platform represents another step in our commitment to helping every child be known, valued, challenged, and supported in their academic journey. Additional information is available below.
As a reminder, parent-teacher conferences are next week. Homeroom parents should have already received the sign up information from homeroom parents. If you’d like to meet with a STEAM teacher, please see the information below.
Thank you for your continued partnership in the important work of educating and forming our children. Together, we are building a community rooted in faith, characterized by belonging, and dedicated to helping our students discover the gifts God has given them so that they may use those gifts to serve the Church and the world.
May God bless your family and continue to guide our school community as we strive to grow in faith, learning, and holiness together.

Ms. Gemo’s Prayer Corner
Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me bring love.
Where there is offence, let me bring pardon.
Where there is discord, let me bring union.
Where there is error, let me bring truth.
Where there is doubt, let me bring faith.
Where there is despair, let me bring hope.
Where there is darkness, let me bring your light.
Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.
O Lord, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love,
for it is in giving that one receives,
it is in self-forgetting that one finds,
it is in forgiving that one is forgiven,
it is in dying that one awakens to eternal life. Amen.
St. Francis of Assisi, Pray for Us
