Compliance Procedures for All Volunteers

The St. Benedict Prep community welcomes volunteers to help provide students with the best educational environment and opportunities possible.  We depend on family support to carry out our mission to inspire and cultivate a balance of faith, academic excellence, and individual talents in a diverse setting.

ALL VOLUNTEERS need to complete the following training and forms before they can volunteer for the school or parish events that involve positions of trust or working with children:

Here are the items that  a brand new volunteer needs to become compliant in VIRTUS:

  1. Virtus "Protecting God's Children" Training: Create an account at https://www.virtusonline.org/ and you will be prompted to complete the online "Protecting God's Children" Training.

  2. Online Criminal Background Check: Once you complete the online training on the Virtus website, you will be prompted to complete the online criminal background check.

  3. Archdiocesan Standards of Behavior Form: Once you complete the online background check in Virtus, you will be prompted to sign this form. 

  4. CANTS Form: This paper form is completed annually.  Please fill out the attached form and either email Erin Johnson ejohnson@stbenedict.com or drop it off at the school office or Rectory. ***Must be an original signature.  Electronic or printed signature will not be accepted.

  5. Mandated Reporter Training: Click this link to access the training: Illinois Mandated Reporter Training (dcfstraining.org). Be sure to save the certificate that you receive at the end of the training and email it to Erin Johnson ejohnson@stbenedict.com

  6. Acknowledgment of Mandated Reporter Status Form: Please fill out the attached form and either email Erin Johnson ejohnson@stbenedict.com or drop it off at the school office or Rectory.

  7. Volunteer Policies and Guidelines Form: Please fill out the attached form and either email Erin Johnson ejohnson@stbenedict.com or drop it off at the school office or Rectory.

Here are the items that an established volunteer needs to fill out yearly.  This would also include the new volunteer form if they had not completed it last year.

  1. Archdiocesan Standards of Behavior Form: Thís paper form is completed annually.  Please fill out the attached form and either email Erin Johnson ejohnson@stbenedict.com or drop it off at the school office or Rectory.

  2. CANTS Form: This paper form is completed annually.  Please fill out the attached form and either email it back to Erin Johnson at ejohnson@stbenedict.com or drop it off at the school office or Rectory.  ***Must be an original signature.  Electronic or printed signature will not be accepted.

Long-Term Volunteers - How to keep current

Here are the items that need to be completed every three years. 

  1. Virtus "A Plan to Protect God's Children 4.0 Recertification with Technology Expansion" Training: Create an account at https://www.virtusonline.org/ and you will be prompted to complete the online "Protecting God's Children" Training.

  2. Online Criminal Background Check: Once you complete the online training on the Virtus website, you will be prompted to complete the online criminal background check.

  3. Mandated Reporter Training: Click this link to access the training: Illinois Mandated Reporter Training (dcfstraining.org). Be sure to save the certificate that you receive at the end of the training and email it to Erin Johnson ejohnson@stbenedict.com
