7C’s Journal Prompts

  • Creativity: Imagine that the book which you’ve read could be turned into a podcast, painting or a song. Which format would best suit the story, and why?

  • Content: Think about a serious point of conflict in the story. Write an unbiased description of the conflict. Then write descriptions of the conflict from the viewpoints of each character who is involved in it. How are each of these descriptions different?

  • Confidence: Select one character, and think about where he or she was at the end of the book. Create a goal that you would like this character to achieve at this point in the story. This goal should relate to the events in the story. Explain the goal which you’ve set and the steps which the character will need to take to meet the goal.

  • Catholic identity: Describe some of the ways in which one of the character’s actions affected other characters in the book. What advice would you have given each character regarding dealing with the situation?

  • Critical thinking: Consider a significant problem faced by the main character in the story. Describe several ways in which the character could have dealt with the problem. Each solution should be detailed.

  • Collaboration: Imagine that you had to select one of the characters in the book with whom to complete a group project. With which character would you choose to work, and why?

  • Communication: Compare your life with the life of one of the main characters. In what ways are your needs similar? In what ways are your needs different?
