7C’s Journal Prompts

  • Creativity: Imagine that the book which you’ve read could be turned into a podcast, painting or a song. Which format would best suit the story, and why?

  • Content: Think about an important message, lesson or theme in the story. Why do you think the author wrote this book? What can or should you learn from this story? Explain why you think this.

  • Confidence: Select one character, and think about where he or she was at the end of the book. Create a goal that you would like this character to achieve. This goal should relate to the events in the story. Explain the goal which you’ve set and the steps which the character will need to take to meet the goal.

  • Catholic identity: Describe some of the ways in which one of the character’s actions affected other characters in the book. What advice would you give each character about this situation?

  • Critical thinking: Consider an important or big problem faced by the main character in the story. Describe multiple different ways in which the character could have dealt with the problem. Each solution should be detailed.

  • Collaboration: Imagine that you had to select one of the characters in the book with whom to complete a group project. With which character would you choose to work, and why?

  • Communication: Compare your life with the life of one of the main characters. In what ways are your needs similar? In what ways are your needs different?
