We are looking forward to long, sunny, summer days ahead! We had a full year of learning, but we still want to encourage our young people to keep their brains in tip top shape for learning when they return to us in August.
Please find below the summer reading/writing assignments by grade level for this year’s Read Around the Block. At every level, there are two books on grade level, one picture book and one challenge book. Teachers will NOT grade these assignments. They will use them for a quick snapshot of your child’s writing, communication and thinking skills. The teacher will also integrate their summer reading experiences into a back-to-school activity the first week of school. Therefore, it is essential that all students complete at least the minimum activity. There is a challenge activity for students craving more.
Assignment per student – please complete and turn in with summer paperwork in early August (specific date TBD)
Read one book from the list for the grade level.
Write on one reflection/journal prompt and turn it in by the due date.
St. Benedict Prep Summer Challenge – please complete and turn in with summer paperwork in early August (specific date TBD) - students who complete this challenge will receive an out of uniform pass.
