The Buzz

AUGUST 9, 2026 | Volume 24 | Issue 2

‍Dear SBPS Parents and Guardians,

I’m so excited to welcome back our teachers this week as we prepare for the coming school year. We are blessed with a great number of faculty and staff returning; and I am so pleased with the newest teachers joining our faculty this year. God is good! I am looking forward to our students and families welcoming the men and women who will be joining our team this year. We don’t have everyone listed yet on our faculty and staff page, but Maria Tubay and Christina Carlile have been working hard to revamp and update the information over the summer. Feel free to get a quick introduction to most of this year’s faculty right here.

Please know that the admin team and I will be working with teachers all week, preparing for the coming year. Please have patience this if you email Ms. Deletioglu, Mrs. Metz or me this week. It will take sometime to get back to you.

We know that parents and students are eagerly waiting to learn about their homeroom teachers and schedules. For families who have all paperwork turned in and are in good financial standing, we hope to release this information in FACTS some time by Wednesday, August 12. It is really important that families who have NOT turned in their summer paperwork ASAP do so by end of the day Monday, August 10. Families turning in their paperwork after this time may experience a delay in having homeroom teachers and schedules released. In order to avoid frustration or disappointment (or crying children) please get your paperwork turned in ASAP.

Please also note our summer office hours. The preschool, elementary and middle school offices are open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and closed on Fridays. This is the last week for summer office hours. Beginning next week, we will resume normal office hours from 7:30AM to 3:30PM Monday-Friday. This will allow our administrative staff the time to prepare everything for the beginning of the school year.

As you can see from the pictures above, there’s been a lot of work completed this summer around the “block!” I want to give a shout out to our maintenance staff for working really hard this summer to get everything done: Mr. Jonathan Birrel, Mr. Michael Guerrero, and Mr. Joe Genslak! Thank you! Also, thank you to BUCK Services for cleaning and waxing the entire campus. That is an incredible undertaking. The amount of work that needs to happen over summer wouldn’t get done without the help of volunteers. Thank you to the following dads who pitched in at the last minute moving furniture and assembling new furniture: Dave DeWitt, John Charleston, Peter Roberts, Jeff Michalik, Edward Murphy, and Andrew Blomquist. We also had a number of students who helped Mr. Joe Accardi this past week with school tasks: Liam DeWitt, Gabriel Jodrey, Jake Meyers, and Isaac Zabor.

I hope all our school families can join us for the Back to School Mass and BBQ on Sunday, August 16 at 10AM with the BBQ in the courtyard after Mass. This is a great way to pray together as a community, asking for God’s blessing on our new school year, as well as enjoy fellowship and community with each other. I hope to see you there!

Thank you once again for your partnership, your trust, and the gift of your children. I look forward to welcoming our students back to school and beginning another year of faith, learning, and growth together. May God bless you abundantly and keep you always in His loving care.

Prayer for a New School Year

Loving God,

As we begin a new school year, we thank You for the gift of our St. Benedict Prep community. Bless our students, families, faculty, and staff as we embark on this journey of learning, growth, and faith together.

Fill our classrooms with curiosity, kindness, and joy. Give us the wisdom to seek truth, the courage to do what is right, and the compassion to care for one another as Christ teaches us.

May this year be filled with opportunities to learn, to serve, and to grow closer to You in all that we do.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen. St. Benedict, Pray for Us! Amen.
