Annual 3C's Survey is Now Available for Parents - Please complete this survey by March 20
Each year, we invite our school communities to share their experiences through our Climate, Culture and Catholic Identity Survey. The survey opened recently and is now available for participation. Students in grades 4–12 and all classroom teachers will have the opportunity to participate, including both the University of Chicago 5Essentials Survey and our customized Catholic Identity survey. Parents and guardians are also encouraged to share their perspectives through the UChicago Parent Survey. All surveys will be administered online by the University of Chicago.
This annual survey helps us better understand the experience of students, families and staff within our schools. The 5Essentials survey focuses on five research-based indicators (effective leaders, collaborative teachers, involved families, supportive environments, ambitious instruction) shown to predict important student outcomes, including stronger attendance and academic growth. Schools that are strong in at least three of these indicators have been shown to be significantly more likely to demonstrate improvements in student learning. The insights gathered help school leaders plan thoughtfully and continue strengthening their school communities.
We invite all parents and guardians to complete the UChicago Parent Survey because we value your input and believe it is critical for continued improvement of our schools. A parent survey report will only be generated if at least 20 percent of your school’s parents complete this survey. That said, our goals are much higher! To gain maximum benefits from the parent survey, our goal is to receive a response from at least 50 percent of our school parents. Thank you in advance for helping us meet our goal!
We encourage your participation, as it will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide future school improvements. Your responses are completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
The Parent Survey will also be conducted through March 20 and will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. To take the survey, please click on the button and select “parent survey.”
PARENT NOTIFICATION/CONSENT
The survey will be administered to all students in grades 4-12 at your child’s school sometime between February 20 - March 20. This survey, developed by the University of Chicago Consortium on School Research, asks students about their experiences in school. Having direct information from students is critical for developing plans to continuously improve our schools. 5Essentials Reports will be generated for schools if their teachers and/or students meet the response rate threshold of 50 percent. These reports will be sent to schools in early May.
Students’ identities will be completely confidential. Teachers or administrators will never see individual responses to survey questions, only summary level responses.
Please be aware that under the Protection of Pupil Rights Act. 20 U.S.C. Section 1232(c) (1) (A), you have the right to review a copy of the questions asked of your student(s). Survey questions are available for your review through this link.
