Important CPS Updates and Dates

Families will be able to begin applying to CPS programs through GoCPS on September 13, 2023 at 10 am.

Non-CPS 8th grade students will need to register for the HSAT within the application in order to be placed on the testing roster for their selected date. They will need to fully submit the application in order for HSAT registration to go through; completing the event registration step without submitting the application is not sufficient. After submission, families will be able to edit the application any time prior to the application deadline of November 9th, 2023.

Non-CPS HSAT dates will be on October 14, October 15, and October 21, 2023. A student must register for the HSAT by October 2 if they would like to take the exam on October 14 or 15. A student will need to register by October 6 if they would like to take the HSAT on October 21. Students who miss these deadlines will still get a chance to test but will not get scores back before the re-rank deadline. Those that do not register by October 6th will be assigned a test date by the Office of Access and Enrollment.

Families will be able to submit new applications, change program selections and rankings, and edit other application information until November 9, 2023 at 5 pm.

New Re-Ranking Deadline:

We anticipate that HSAT scores will be released after the November 9, 2023 application deadline. Because of this, we are allowing families to log back in after they receive their HSAT scores and re-rank any programs through November 22, 2023 at 5 pm. Families will only be able to re-rank; they will not be able to add or delete programs, nor will they be able to create or submit a new application if they missed the November 9th deadline. We encourage families to always rank programs in their true order of preference.

HSAT Updates:

Additionally, the HSAT is being updated for this coming year. Here are the changes:

  • The HSAT exam time will be approximately 60 minutes.

  • There will be two exam sections: Reading and Math.

  • The HSAT will be available in 6 different languages: English, Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin, Polish, and Urdu. Students will need to designate which language they would like to take the exam in within the application.
