Mrs. Metz's Out of Office Day in Kindergarten!

On Thursday, Feb. 16th I spent my day ‘Out of Office’ with the Kindergarten teachers and students. On Out of Office Days the teachers create a schedule for me and are allowed to use me as they see fit! First thing in the morning I was able to be with Mr. Garibaldi’s class - I greeted friends as they came into the room and helped some get started with journaling. I also got to participate in morning circle time, calendar and feelings check in time and daily commitments. After spending time there, I moved on to Ms. O’Daniel’s class where I got to lead the SEL lesson for the day - within the “Little Spot of Emotions” curriculum, I read about the “Sadness Spot”. We talked about if we’ve ever felt sad, how we can tell that others are sad and how we get back to our “Peaceful Spot”. Students journaled about that feeling. Because it was Spirit Week, a few friends also got to help me DJ a Get Up and Dance break to Shake It Off. I then headed to Ms. Taras’s class to help students with center time and got to do the read aloud of “Sylvester and the Magic Pebble” and talk about main idea. After lunch and recess, I headed to Mr. White’s class where I got to teach math using a pan balance and we were working on finding objects that were equal in weight and we did a Star of the Week guessing jar (Sebastian really fooled me…and Mr. White!). I ended the day with Mr. Garibaldi’s class, learning about Presidents’ Day and having recess. It was such a fun day, but boy was I tired! Check out some of the fun pictures that we took during the day.
