Bitty Basketball - 2018 Winter Program
Who: St. Benedict Prep students Preschool through 3rd grade, parents & volunteer coaches. If there are enough 2nd and 3rd graders registered, they will be divided into separate boys and girls divisions, just as they were last spring.
What: St. Benedict Prep Bitty Basketball League is a non-competitive basketball league created to help your child (age 4 – 9) learn the game of basketball, stay active and have fun with their classmates outside of school. For 3 year-olds and/or 1st year Preschool students, if you are 100% certain s/he is ready to participate then please sign up your child. However, not all students are ready and it can create a stressful and difficult situation if the child doesn’t want to step on the court. This is a parent’s decision at time of registration. No one will be turned away.
When: Practice/Games on Saturdays scheduled between 8:00am and 5:00pm. Preschool kids play first, followed by K/1st graders, and ending with 2nd/3rd graders. Preschool slots will last 45 minutes. Kindergarten and first grade will last 45 minutes. Second and third grade will last one 1 hour. The session runs on Saturdays, from January 20th through March rd with a “Celebration Day” on March 10th.
Where: Gym in the upstairs of the Ackerman Center at Bell and Irving Park.
How: Players are separated into leagues by grade (and potentially gender for 2nd/3rd) and coached by parent volunteers.
Registration fee for first child per family is $40 with each additional child $25. Each player must have a maroon & gold reversible jersey that may be purchased at an additional cost of $20 each. If you already own this reversible jersey, it fits and is in good condition, you do not need to purchase a new one. If you do purchase the jersey, it may be used as long as your child (and younger siblings) can fit into it for future leagues.
By registering your child(ren) in the SBPS Bitty Basketball Program you agree to have a parent, legal guardian or assigned adult accompany your child(ren) during play times. Do not drop your child(ren) off unattended unless someone has been assigned responsibility for them by you.
