Meet Our 2016-2017 Preschool Team!
Betty Blazek earned her degree in Early Childhood Education from Concordia College. She began teaching Preschool at Saint Benedict's Prep in 1990 and for the fourth year being co-director of the Elementary After Care program. She looks forward for another great year of growing socially, emotional, spiritually with lots of laughter and learning.
Kelly Davis graduated from University of Detroit Mercy located in Michigan with a degree in Education. She enjoyed her four years there playing tennis on a scholarship. She completed her master’s degree in reading at Oakland University in 2015. Ms. Davis enjoys coloring, exercising and listening to music. She loves the color yellow and will never turn down a cupcake. Ms Davis is planning on getting married next April in 2017 on April Fool’s Day!
Molly Elliott earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at DePaul University in 2010. This will be her seventh year teaching preschool at St. Benedict Prep. In addition to teaching preschool, this will be Ms. Elliott’s fourth year co-directing the Elementary After Care program. She is excited to start a new school year that is sure to be filled with learning, faith, and fun.
Claire Fleming graduated from the University of Illinois with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education in 2013. This is Ms. Fleming’s second year at St. Benedict Preparatory. Prior to working at St. Benedict Prep, Ms. Fleming taught kindergarten Special Education in Maryland, right outside of Washington, D.C. She is looking foward to a wonderful year in Junior Kindergarten! .
Kristen Hayes completed her Bachelor of Arts in Education at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has been a preschool assistant and aftercare teacher at St.Ben’s. This will be her second year as lead preschool teacher. She is looking forward to a great year learning and exploring new things with her students.
Cathy Kattner has always lived here in Chicago. She is married with 2 children, both having attended
St. Benedict Prep preschool through high school. She graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She loves teaching and is happy to be part of the preschool team.
Malgorzata Pikulski is beginning her 2nd year at St. Benedict Preparatory School. She grew up in Poland and moved to Chicago shortly after graduating from University of Rzeszow. For the past years Ms. Pikulski has been teaching preschool age children in the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools. A graduate of Dominican University, she obtained a master’s degree of Science in Education with the concentration in Early Childhood. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, bike riding, and reading. Ms. Pikulski is looking forward to having a great year!
Lauren Russell received her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from DePaul University. This will be her second year teaching at St. Benedict Preparatory School. She looks forward to sharing her passion and enthusiasm for teaching preschool with her students and their families.
Kelley Schmidt is beginning her first year at St. Benedict Prep. She and her family moved to Chicago in August from South Carolina, where she spent the past six years teaching middle school Special Education and Social Studies. Mrs. Schmidt graduated the University of South Carolina in 2006 and earned her Master’s degree from Converse College in 2010. Mrs. Schmidt loves traveling, reading, listening to music and spending time with family and friends. She is excited to be a part of the preschool team and her new adventure as a Chicago resident!
