Come Join Mrs. Susina for the St. Benedict “Hooked on Books” Club! (Grades 3-5)

The “Hooked on Books” Club will meet on Tuesday, May 10th, during recess. We will be reading the "The Fourteenth Goldfish" by Jennifer Holm.

Galileo. Newton. Salk. Oppenheimer. Science can change the world . . . but can it go too far? Eleven-year-old Ellie has never liked change. She misses fifth grade. She misses her old best friend. She even misses her dearly departed goldfish. Then one day a strange boy shows up. He’s bossy. He’s cranky. And weirdly enough . . . he looks a lot like Ellie’s grandfather, a scientist who’s always been slightly obsessed with immortality. Could this gawky teenager really be Grandpa Melvin? Has he finally found the secret to eternal youth? With a lighthearted touch and plenty of humor, Jennifer Holm celebrates the wonder of science and explores fascinating questions about life and death, family and friendship, immortality . . . and possibility.

Please see the SBPS Library page or this week's BUZZ for the RSVP/book order form.

Come join Mrs. Susina for the St. Benedict “Booked for Recess” Club

The “Booked for Recess” Club for 1st graders will meet on Tuesday, April 19th, during recess.  We will be reading 8 Class Pets + 1 Squirrel ÷ 1 Dog = Chaos by Vivian Vande Velde.  Students should have the book read before we meet to discuss it.

When Twitch the squirrel is chased into a school by the principal’s dog, the class pets work together to rescue him. In this hilarious chapter book, a group of small animals turn an elementary school into a real zoo.
