Meet Our 2016-2017 1st Grade Team!
Carlyn Kellner is starting her first year at St. Benedict Prep. She previously taught second grade down in Houston, Texas. Ms. Kellner attended Michigan State University for her degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Language Arts. She enjoys spending time with her friends in the city as well as her family back home in Michigan. She is also a huge fan of Michigan State football and basketball. Go green!
Colleen Morgan graduated in 2009 from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. In 2012, she completed her Masters in Reading at National Louis University. Born and raised on the north side of Chicago, she attended both a Catholic grade school and high school. This will be her 8th year teaching and she is really looking forward to another wonderful year in 1st grade. When Mrs. Morgan is not teaching, she loves to cook, travel, shop, read, and spend time with family and friends.
Katrina O’Malley comes to us from St. Cornelius, where she was a kindergarten teacher for the last year. Previously, Mrs. O’Malley worked in the Park Ridge School District as a Special Education Instructional Aide. She also worked as Title 1 Teacher, providing reading and math instruction to students from kindergarten to eighth grade. She has been a first grade teacher for six years, four at St. Domitilla School in Hillside and two at St. Margaret of Scotland in Chicago. Mrs. O’Malley has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and her M.A.T in Elementary Education from National Louis University. She also has two children who attend Catholic school. Her son is a freshman at St. Patrick High School and her daughter attends St. Thecla, in Chicago. Mrs. O’Malley is an alum of Our Lady of Ransom in Niles. She enjoys spending time with her family and loves reading. She also loves museums and traveling to new places.
Megan Peters graduated from Michigan State University in 2013 with a Bachelors in Elementary Education along with an endorsement in Early Childhood and ESL. Ms. Peters started her career in Chicago Public Schools teaching 1st grade for two years and is excited to come to St. Benedict Preparatory School this year! When she isn’t teaching, Ms. Peters is traveling and enjoying Chicago with her friends and family.
Gina Zadrozny was born and raised in the city of Chicago. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton and worked as a social worker for ten years before going back to school for teaching. She earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (Early Childhood) from National Louis University in 2008 and has been teaching within the Archdiocese of Chicago since then. Ms. Zadrozny also completed a post-graduate program in Curriculum and Instruction at National Louis in 2012 and is endorsed in teaching English as a second language. This is her eighth year teaching and her second year at SBPS. When she is not teaching, she loves to explore the city with her beloved dog, Oscar.
