One-to-One Tech Requirement
BRING YOUR OWN DEVICE (BYOD) is a model where students furnish their own computing devices for use in the classroom. The emphasis is on the tools and resources used through a computer device to support learning, not the specifics of a computer device itself. We believe this option will give families greater flexibility, reduce overall costs, and meet the needs of the individual learner and their families. With the use of the Google platform and the various applications that go along with personal devices, students will be able to create and submit the majority of their assignments online. Students and parents will also have the ability to track their child’s academic progress through PowerSchool and Edmodo. In several subjects, students will have access to online textbook support (Math, Science and Social Studies, as well as other subjects).
All students in grades 6-12 are expected to have a computer device on the first day of school and to have a working device throughout the school year. Students that forget their device may be sent to the office to call someone to drop off their device at school. Please make sure your child has their device every day. Students will not be allowed to use their cell phones as their primary device. Students that do not consistently have a computer in class will meet with the administration and be placed on academic probation until the student has a device to use. Since these are their personal devices, students will be taking them to and from school and are responsible for their own devices. Students are highly encouraged to purchase locks for their lockers to store their devices when the students aren’t utilizing their computers.
